We report a self-phase-locked and degenerate backward wave optical parametric oscillator (BWOPO) generating counterpropagating signal an idler in the spectral band of communication. The device is based on periodically poled Rb-doped KTiOPO4 crystal with poling period 433 nm. To best our knowledge, this shortest quasi-phase matching reported bulk ferroelectric crystal. coherence properties BWOPO at degeneracy are investigated. observe single pass conversion efficiency 40%. At degeneracy, generate phase-matched sum-frequency generation both directions. confirm phase-locked state by interfering pump frequency-doubled wave. stable during entire duration experiment without active stabilization.

We report a degenerate femtosecond optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that is synchronously pumped by a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser at 1 GHz repetition rate.
